The Fleet.
We actually have five boats. Our fleet includes a Necky touring sea kayak, an Old Town NEXT canoe, and a Mako Pro-Skiff.
And now we have added our Mainship 390 and Highfield 310 RIB. Pete spent hours researching and window shopping online. He kept returning to the Mainship. We started shopping in earnest in June of 2017. After two east coast trips and viewing a couple dozen boats, we found “Reverie.”
Her lines are beautiful and her layout is very practical, with two staterooms, one head, including an oversized shower with a seat, and a generous galley/salon that has a queen sleeper sofa, allowing plenty of room for company.
In good weather, the flybridge benches could accommodate additional guests! Cabin headroom is 6’6″ for Pete and our tall relatives.
She came with a dinghy, however we wanted something bigger, faster, and more comfortable. We will also upgrade her navionics and sound system.
Some of her attributes include:
- Dual helms,
- fully equipped with navionics,
- a bow and stern thruster
- a single inboard Caterpillar 3126 diesel engine (300 hp) with low hours
- generous fuel capacity (300 gal),
- fresh water tank (130 gal) and holding tank (35 gal) suitable for extended cruising,
- automatic halon fire suppression system,
- two large house batteries,
- a Kohler 8 Kw generator,
- dual HVAC systems,
- windlass for anchoring,
- beautiful teak cabinetry,
- Corian countertops,
- SS oversized sink,
- built-in coffee maker,
- 3-burner stove with oven,
- “abundant” storage.
I could go on, but some readers might be more interested in cruising stats.
- Cruising speed: 7-8 knots. Max speed: 12 knots.
- Estimated: 2 miles/gallon, range of nearly 600 miles.
- LOA: 39′ (without dinghy).
- Beam: 14’2″ and Draft 3’8″.
- Dry weight is 22,000 lbs.
Reverie will be our floating condominium for the duration of our Great Loop Adventure.
